Rendering showing the building skin on the observation dock level. Ideally, the panels would be closed when an elevator begins ascent, or is descending, so that debris and wind pressure does not enter the building.
The following 3 images below are various viewpoints of a paneling system that may be incorporated in the interior design of the building. I would like it to enhance the user experience. I hope that by using the building skin in another method it should make it more interesting to experience it at an intimate level.

My crit from Daisy:

In the mini desk crit given by Daisy, she reviewed what I had done for Friday. One of the main issues I was trying to deal with at the moment was how I was going to connect all three parts of the program with bridging. Daisy gave some suggestions instead of bridging. Instead I should go back and see how the isalnds of Hawaii, or other islands, are formed. So instead of having literal bridges, perhaps I should have underwater passage ways where there is one mass underwater that become three above.
Daisy looked at the sketch of the section I had with me. She told me that she didn't quite like the idea of having a double skin in the semi-private/private areas (ie offces). It would be better if I thought of another skin type or system instead of having two layers of the same type. I responded by saying that if I did add another skin type or system, it would be too many systems being incorporated, unless I found a way to link them together or a common something between the two.
She liked the system of patios that I created by slightly offseting the levels from the building skin in the residential building. She suggested that perhaps I can think about linking all of them together to created a spiral ramp from the bottom level to the top. My repsonse was that these were patios/balconies and were meant to be private... hence the redential buildlings. But nonetheless, this could be applied in the other buildings.

the image above is a sketch showing the relationship of the skin to the interior of the base. the top level seen is how I envision most of the public spaces in relation to the exterior (skin), while the bottom level is how I see most of the semi-public spaces or offices to be like- with a double skin. the sketches to the right were just ways to find how the bridging can work in between the 3 separate buildings.

Downsizing the building was not easy. It seemed easy at first, but I was wrong. It went from about 42 floors to 11. I had to keep in mind the scale of the CLA building at Cal Poly Pomona. Otherwise, the program should still fit appropriately, although adjustments will have to be made in section, since it seems I am designing it like that for the most part.
The sketch above is an older sketch, but I was posted it in order to show that this is the program that I would still like to follow in the new downsized building.

The following sketches were made before the plaster models from the blog entries below. These were study sketches from the wax models made- by focusing on the voids that the water created within the wax when the water was introduced to it.
By doing so, I hope to find a way to organize spaces in section and the relationships between them as well, such as the hallway/corridor relationship with (ie:) the visitor's center.

Study Model part II: Indifferent

Ok, so attempt #2. It did not go as I hoped. But it is closer to what I wanted than the last one.
Further disection of this study model is needed. At least with this model I can see more of a relationship between the spaces of Antelope Canyon (which are created by strong water currents...it kills people too if they happen to be there at the wrong time- thats how strong it is).
The image (just that one) below is probably the closest I got to the essence of the canyon (compare it to this image):

Study Model part I: The Failure

This was an attempt at a study model of adjacent spaces through the 'inspiration' of Anteplope Valley. It was supposed to be a cone, a tower-cone, but it failed horribly. But heck, I'll post my photos of this failed experiment. I still put time into my failure.

"Watch the world’s first rotating skyscraper: Dubai’s “Dynamic Tower”

"Dubai’s “Dynamic Tower”, a $US700 million ($A732.9 million) rotating, shifting, rippling skyscraper, has been unveiled by architect David Fisher for a planned 2010 opening.

The tower, which will be entirely self-sufficient, harnessing the power of the wind rather than fighting the forces, as is always the problem with such a large structure.

There will be 80 apartments in the building, all of which will be pre-fabricated in Italy prior to being assembled in Dubai – much the same way as cabins are individually created prior to being inserted into a luxury liner, and each will spin throughout 360 degrees during a one to three hour period, all around a central, vertical column using 79 power-generating wind turbines."

a continuation on the concept models "waxies"

The image above is a 3 dimensional graphic display generated from the Hoover Dam Quadrangle DEM with a 50 meter contour overlay (as stated on the website http://gis.esri.com/library/userconf/proc95/to200/p152.html). It is an interesting display because the formed contours are basically what the water has eaten away from the earth during 1,000's of years.

The 3 images above show the interaction of wax and water when the water was still. There was no force of water acting upon the wax, rather it was only wax poured into a small cup with some water, instead of pouring water and wax simultaneously into the cup.
This was done to show how still water can also create unique forms without having water forcing its way into the wax.

The 3 images above show how water and wax interact. This is a continuation of the concept model in the post below. These were made at a small scale, again utilizing the idea of water rushing through the wax to yield these unique forms.

The Successful Concept Model, part I

Base Concepts

"The same stream of life that runs through my veins night and day runs though the world and dances in rhythmic measures." (Rabindranath Tagore)
The first concept utilizes the idea of veins/nerves. It could be interpreted like alien forms reaching down to the earth, or like veins of the living sea coming onto the base, wrapping itself around such a synthetic form. Veins carry liquids all over the body- they are essential for living.

The second concept was taken from inspiration from a water drop hitting the surface of water. This creates more of an organic form that would be hypothetically set on a bed of water. The original idea was to draw from the canyons created by water erosion, most typically found in arizona and utah (images found here). There really is not much of a trace of this in the water concept of the base- but the thought and idea of water is still present.
